Veteran journalist and Editor in Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr says President, John Dramani Mahama will be the best Presidential candidate for the outgoing National Democratic Congress(NDC) party again in the next elections.
Speaking on Joy FM’s News File on Saturday, Baako said it will be a good decision for the NDC party to consider Mr Mahama, if he so decides to contest again for the Presidency.
“Mr. Mahama, i think is a good man and I like. I have to be honest with you; I think he’s a good person, honest person, he’s young, he’ll be the best ticket for them 2020. There’s nobody there who can compete with him, if he decides.” he noted
The Trade and Industry Minister in the Mahama-led administration, Ekow Spio-Garbrah has been the leading figure known to have earnestly contended for the ticket of the Presidential slot in NDC primary in the past, but it is unclear whether a come-back will see him being accepted by the NDC folks towards another election.
He’d however pulled the brakes on contesting his Boss, Mr Mahama prior to the party’s primary in 2015 insisting it was politically unwise to have considered that, in view of the popular acclamation of Mahama’s candidature at the time.
Mahama, who came to power in 2012 after beating Akufo-Addo, had urged voters to “stay the course”, promising to deliver more infrastructure projects in his next term, but that was rejected by the electorate in a keenly contested race on December 7, held by the democratic stable state.
