Fifteen people have lost their lives in a gory accident that occurred on the Accra Cape Coast highway on Sunday.
The accident happened at Essarkyir Junction in the Ekumfi district near Mankessim and it involved a Yutong bus with registration number GN.3973- 09 and a Sprinter mini bus with registration number AS 5622-14.
The two vehicles were involved in a head on collision resulting in the death of 15 people instantly who were mostly in the sprinter bus which was on its way from Accra to Obuasi in the Ashanti region.
The injured predominantly from the fully loaded Yutong bus which was on its way from Tarkoradi to Accra have sent to the Apam in the Gomoa West district for treatment while the dead have been deposited at the Saltpond government hospital morgue in the Mfantseman municipality of the central region.
Speaking to Kasapa News’ Central regional, Kweku Baah Acheamfour, Ekumfi Dstrict Police Commander ASP Kofi Maya indicated that the police are yet to establish what lead to the head on collision of the two vehicles.
He however admonished motorists to be very careful when plying the road so as to reduce the tendencies for accident on the road especially when the rains are setting in and also the Christmas and election fever wears on.
