The Police have cautioned supporters of the  New Patriotic Party(NPP) to exercise some decorum in celebration of their victory in the recent polls.

They have therefore threatened to arrest any person who’ll attack a political opponent while in jubilation mood.

The Director of Public Affairs at the Police Service, Supt. Cephas Arthur told Kasapa 102.5 FM in an interview with Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa that the Police are on high alert to protect the citizenry against such acts.

“The Police who have been deployed to perform duties in the aftermath of the elections are going to look out for those who are going beyond the normal things and are violating against the laws of the land and arrest them and process them for court. We’ve indicated in very strong terms that we are not going to sit by for anybody to violate anybody’s right. That people should be careful in order not to violate people’s right.  Inasmuch as people have the right to celebrate after victory, such jubilation and celebration should not exceed the normal one  and also bother on criminality.” he stated.

Meanwhile the [police have beefed up security in the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange enclave following reports of widespread hooliganism and vandalism of public facilities by supporters of the NPP after the party won the just ended elections.

President John Dramani Mahama, and the President-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo have both condemned the acts of violence taking over the peaceful elections, and have called on the Police to clamp down on such incidences.
