Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu has called on President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to call his party supporters to order, following pockets of violence by NPP supporters across the country.

According to him, it is crucial for him(Nana Addo) to add his voice to condemn the vandalism by suspected members of his party, while still in jubilation mood.

Some youth believed to be supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Monday stormed the Tema Motorway toll booth and ransacked several booths.

Reports say the youth sacked the officially designated toll collectors and illegally started taking the tolls themselves momentarily until the Police intervened.

Several of such disturbing reports have come in, amidst issues of assaults in less than a week after polls Wednesday.

Spokesperson, Sheikh Aremeyaw who spoke on behalf of Chief Imam when he paid a courtesy call on the President-elect, Nana Akufo-Addo said in the interest of peace in the country, it was important for him to speak to the excesses of the jubilant supporters.

He however congratulated the President-elect, for his victory in the recent polls, and assured of his office coninuous prayer and support in his tenure as the next President of the republic.

“For the past years we have been observing with admiration your exceptional courage and never give up spirit in the face of an extraordinary fierce political contest. Whiles rejoicing with you and your party, we equally wish to assure you  of our continuous prayers and support throughout your entire tenure as the President of our dear land.”
