The New Patriotic Party(NPP) Executives in the Ashaiman constituency have warned the Municipal Chief Executive(MCE) to desist from awarding new contracts.
Addressing a Press conference Monday, the constituency secretary noted that information available to the NPP in the constituency revealed that despite the end to the NDC’s reign in government, the MCE is still signing new contracts with stakeholders, which are likely to bind the incoming administration.
“It is interesting to know that the current management contract is signed at the end of November, 2016. The Chief Executive of the Assembly is pushing for a renewal of the contract. He wants to give it to a known NDC person, our investigations reveal. We advise him as the MCE of the Assembly to hold on for the new MCE because it is politically incorrect to award contract at this last hour. The renewal of contracts should be stopped until new administration takes over the day-to-day administration of the Assembly,” the Constituency Secretary of the NPP, Chapman Takyi Kordam disclosed.
According to him, the parties to such contracts risk losing the deal if a new administration takes over from 2017.
With less than a month to the inauguration of the new President, the President Mahama administration is clearing its desk in all public offices to make way for the new Akufo-Addo-led government as Transition teams for both sides are currently working earnestly towards a smooth transition of power to the incoming administration.
However, the period after election literally sees a caretaker government in place until the next government is formed and subsequently the January 7th presidential inauguration taken place.
