Ghanaian Gospel act, Anita Afriyie, has revealed that organisers of the biggest and most patronised entertainment event, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), asked his management team to pay an amount of 10,000 before they will award her.
She hinted that 2015 when she was nominated in just two categories, her management approached the organisers to question them on why she got only two nominations and they were asked to allegedly pay bribe in order to win the two categories that she was nominated in.
“My management was told that other people are paying better money and investing in the awards so if we want to win or get more nominations, then we should invest more in it,” Anita Afriyie allegedly told editor of Ghanacreativearts.com.
The ‘Adehye Mogya’ hitmaker noted that the reason why she did not receive any award that year was because her management refused to pay the money.
She has therefore thrown a challenge to the Communications Head of the scheme, George Quaye to name the artiste who paid the bribe since she doubt the latter over his recent claims that Gospel acts rather ‘chase’ them with money for awards.
