Finance Minister, Seth Terkper, says government will ensure fiscal discipline and also cut down on election related expenses ahead of the 2016 election.

Terkper hinted that the government is determined to enforce a directive on Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to ostensibly check them against incurring additional expenditure.

The move is to restrain government from incurring any additional expenditure that may lead to a bloated national budget.

The Finance Minister told state broadcaster GBC the decision to revise downward major indicators such as inflation, growth rate and non-oil Real GDP was due to prudent and realistic moves to manage the economy in line with available resources.
