Deputy Director in charge of Technical at the National Sports Authority (NSA), Joshua Mensah is urging government to freeze former sports minister and his deputy, Hon. Ahmed Mustapha and Vincent Oppong Asamoah’s ex gratia to pay judgement debt of $380,000 to Latina Travel and Tour.
In an interview with KASAPA Sports, he said “We did our very best as sports Authority, to go and comeback from the All African games that was held in Congo Brazzaville 2015 with no problems, two companies vied as travelling agents for the tournament, Latina travelling tour and African Origin travel and tour. But eventually, Latina Travel and Tour won but the then sports ministry under the leadership of Hon. Mustapha Ahmed and Vincent Oppong Asamoah his deputy gave the bid to the loser which is African Origin travel and tour. So Latina Travel and Tour thought she was treated unfair so she sued NSA with an amount of $380,000. I think the then sports minister and his vice, Hon. Ahmed Mustapha and his vice Vincent Oppong Asamoah’s ex gratia must be used to pay this money rather than we taking it from the National sport Authority (NSA).”
“I can be a witness for the woman on this issue, Latina won the bid hands down but she was cheated, as am speaking currently the NSA is in its own crisis because common electricity is not at the Accra sports stadium and our offices, we buy one or two gallons of Petrol to use generator anytime we want to use light for something in the office, so how can we pay an amount of money which we did not cause. I will advice that the new sports minister should set up a commission to investigate this issue because Hon. Ahmed Mustapha and Vincent Oppong Asamoah must be held responsible.” he added.
The NSA is currently under the leadership of Joe Kpenge, while Ahmed Mustapha and Vincent Oppong Asamoah are currently holding no positions in government.
