The National Vice Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo,  says despite efforts being made to maintain a National Developmental Policy framework, political party manifestos should also be considered in the new structure to consolidate the country’s development.

He explained that the manifestos of political parties ought to be morphed into a national plan, insisting the composition of the two will give the needed impetus to achieving a consolidated development agenda.

He told Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM that his observation is informed by the National Development Planning Committee’s (NDPC) broader consultations with political parties, former Presidents Jerry John Rawlings and John Agyekum Kufuor, religious leaders and democratic bodies on the 40 Year National Development Policy Draft, expected to be launched on August 4, 2015.

Highlighting the core essence of the implementation of  the National Development Policy framework, Mr Ofosu Ampofo said it’s necessary to advance a single document on the nation’s development strategy, which will serve as a guide towards economic output.

“The manifesto will practically serve as an approach for the implementation of the nation’s development agenda, whilst a national development plan is meant to open a common framework that will aid political parties draft their own manifestos.”
