The first woman appointee to represent Ghana at the United Nations (UN), Mrs Martha Ama Akyaa Pobee, has underscored her commitment to continue with the good work of her predecessors.

“I am conscious of following the steps of distinguished ambassadors who served at Ghana’s permanent mission in New York,” she’s said expressing her appreciation to President John Mahama.

Pobee is replacing Mr. Ken Kanda who retired in March 2015, and would assume the full role of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.

At a ceremony at the Flagstaff House, President Mahama urged her to put in hard work, adding she should strive to be a worthy ambassador for Ghana.
