Founding member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Kwame Amoako Tuffour has called for a ban on the use of mobile phones in all major NPP meetings.

According to him, that is the only measure the party can adopt to prevent details of its meetings getting into the public domain.

The NPP in recent times have had to deal with a disturbing and an unpleasant situation where conclusions reached at its meetings are leaked into the media sphere almost immediately after the meeting ends, one of such recent leakage being the infamous Osafo Marfo.

Another example is the recent meeting called at the instance of Ex President John Agyekum Kuffour which involved some senior clergymen and some NPP leaders such as Nana Akufo Addo and Paul Afoko among others where attempts were made to broker peace and unity in the NPP which is evidently divided.

Dr Amoako Tuffour who is very much incensed about this phenomenon condemned the leakage of such party top secrets and urged the party to deal decisively with anyone found to be behind such leakages.

“The NPP hierarchy is made up people of repute but since we cannot tell who will be up to mischief we need to collect all mobile phones whenever a meeting is attended and put them in envelopes with names behind for easy identification. I’m confident that this measure will ensure that NPP top secrets are not smuggled out electronically.  This measure will save the NPP some shame and public ridicule.we seriously have to deal with this issue ”.

He emphasized the need for the party to set up an investigative body to probe such unfortunate acts should it occur in the future, adding that the party cannot continue have such incidents as it readies itself for the crucial 2016 election.
