A ballsy SUV driver has been filmed crossing a flooded, crocodile -infested river – while his pal sat on the vehicle’s ROOF.

In the footage, the SUV can be seen struggling to cross the river , with the flowing water reaching almost as high as its windows.

Incredibly, the daring crossing was guided by a man sitting on the white vehicle’s roof rack, who directed the driver below.

The dramatic video has gone viral after being shared thousands of times across social media.

It appears to have been filmed in the Northern Territory in Australia’s top end after locals spotted government markings on its exterior.

However, the NT Government has suggested the vehicle model had not been in its fleet for a number of years and may have been sold on a long time ago, the Northern Territory News reports.

“In the absence of identification, we can’t be precise, but this vehicle would likely have been either purchased or gifted some years ago,” a government spokeswoman told the paper.

“Our standard process is to remove the NT Government stickers on disposal of vehicles.”

People were advised not to cross flooded roadways, a police spokesman said.

“Several offences have been detected in the video, however, without knowing the exact circumstances around why the crossing was attempted, there is little chance of prosecution,” he told the paper.
