CEO of Exstep Production, Samuel Kwadwo Fosu , says he would invest one million dollars into Kumawood movies if the right policies are put in place.
According to Samuel Kwadwo Fosu if the Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo’s government passes the Film Bill and the Creative Arts Council also brings policies to support local content he would invest into the industry.
Mr. Fosu who is a philanthropist, an entrepreneur and a business mogul with a chain of business says creating jobs in Kumawood is his passion.
“I have a lot of investors in South Africa and Europe who are ready to invest in Kumawood movies but they are afraid of the lost because there are no rules covering the industry so instead they prefer to invest in Yoruba movies in Nigeria that attracted DSTV to go for Yoruba movies between $10,000 to $15,000 dollars per title whiles Kumawood movies goes for $1,000 dollars per title,” he revealed.
Mr. Fosu said if the right policies are not put in place the movie industry especially Kumawood would continue to struggle. He again added that Kumawood has improved over the years and with the right policies place it create jobs for many.
“I am appealing to the Minister of Creative Arts to work hand in hand with FIPAG and the Creative Arts Council to bring out policies that will protect the local movies and believe me it will attract foreign investors to move in to reduce unemployment in Ghana, Nigerians learnt how to shoot movies from us but now they are far ahead of us because they have support from their government and copy right laws are working there,” Mr. Fosu noted.
Exstep Production has so far produced; “Enyi Me Mma,” “Nsoroma,” “ Nya Asem Hwe,” “Ye M’adom,” “ Ewiase Ben Nie” and “Me Hyebre Sesafo.”
