One person is confirmed dead while about two dozen others including construction workers are feared trapped in Cantonments in Ghana’s capital, Accra, where a three-storey building collapsed Saturday afternoon.

The incident happened at about 1:30 pm local time, eye witnesses say of the facility whose construction started a little under six months ago.

Located near the Free Zones Board area in Cantonments, it is owned by a foreign national has been identified as the dead person.

Officers from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the Ghana Police Service and officials of Engineers and Planners (E&P), a company owned by Ibrahim Mahama, brother of the President John Mahama, are helping with rescue efforts.
