The President of Tanzania John Magufuli on Thursday sacked his information minister.

Nape Nnauye was the country’s Minister of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports. No reasons have been given for his sacking.

President Magufuli is making changes to his cabinet for the first time since taking office in 2015.

In the new changes Harrison Mwakyembe has been appointed information minister while Palamagamba Kabudi now becomes justice and constitutional affairs minister.

Nnauye who has been sacked as information minister recently ordered a probe into an alleged raid on a private television station by a senior government official.

Reuters reported that on Thursday, police officers prevented Nnauye from holding a press conference at a Dar es Salaam hotel.

There are reported friction among government officials due to the leadership style of President Magufuli considered strict.
