Though getting the highest nomination at this year’s edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards with eleven (11) nods but couldn’t make it into the overall category-Artiste of the year, yet Gospel musician and producer, Nacee says he is not discourage with the work of the board.

In an interview with Kwame Bee on ‘Di Wu Lane’ on Kasapa 102.5FM, the ‘Yewo Nyame A Yewo Adzi’ hit-maker explained that the board did a good job since they were well experienced in determining which artiste deserves to be the ‘Artiste of the year’ Category.

He noted that the year under review, his management was more focused on promoting his songs than his personality and that got him the eleven nominations without the over all category which according to him is determined by the artiste’s dominance in terms of personality in the public domain and works as well.

“I’m not disappointed for not being nominated in the Artiste of the year category because when the Board sat down to review artistes and their songs, they knew what can qualify an artiste to be nominated in the over all category (artiste of the year). And looking at what we did from our camp, we also saw that we rather pushed the songs and establishing certain things that we did. In terms of the face of the artiste being relevant in the public domain we fell short and I agree with the board’s decision but with the nominations we deserve all.”

Nacee was confident that out of the eleven nominations he will bag at least five or seven of the awards in the categories nominated.

“My management will tell you that we deserve to win all the categories we were nominated but we don’t want to be selfish so we are striving for at least five or seven.”

Nacee got an impressive 11 nominations including – Most Popular Song of the Year, Gospel Song of the Year, Gospel Artiste of the Year, Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Producer of the Year, Sound Engineer of the Year, Best Video of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Collabration of the Year and Best Male Vocalist (Ernest Opoku) – Yewo Nyame A Yewo Adze

Musicians vying for this year’s Artiste of the Year award include EL, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Joe Mettle, MzVee and Medikal.
