A family in Kumasi has accused the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital of negligence following the vanishing of their baby girl.
The baby, according to hospital officials, died after it was delivered last Saturday.
The father of the missing baby, Solomon Boakye Ansah, a motor mechanic claims his wife Abigail Opoku was rushed to the hospital in labour on Friday. His said his wife gave birth on Saturday night however fell unconscious following post labour complications.
Nana Kwame as he’s commonly known in an interview on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa FM Thursday, stated that the baby was kept away from her sick mother by the medics and attended to by his mother in law.
The family, he said, got worried when the mother of the baby regained her strength on Wednesday and demanded to see her baby only to be told that the baby had died on Monday.
He noted that when the family asked for the body, they were told another family member whom they do not know had come to sign documents for the baby to be transferred to the mortuary.
“I’m the father of the baby and my name is in their records as such and none of my family members have been to the hospital to sign any such documents. I’ve not even seen the body of my so called dead baby so how can I sign for the body to be conveyed to the mortuary. How is this possible. The hospital authorities showed us the said contact of the person they claim signed, but no relative of myself and my wife owns the said number,” Nana Kwame said.
The father of the baby, disclosed that he’s made several attemps to see his baby’s body but has been refused by the mortuary attendants claiming the fridge has been locked.
This incident adds up to the several stories reported of babies getting missing at the Konfo Anokye Taching Hospital in Kumasi, one of such stories was the infamous Suwaiba missing baby saga which hit the hospital in 2014.
