Some nine district mining officers of the Minerals Commission have been interdicted by government after they were asked to proceed on an indefinite leave a week ago.

The nine according to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources looked on as illegal miners ravaged the lands and water bodies under their watch.

Mr. John Peter Amewu, said their interdiction will help the Ministry’s investigation into some illegalities into the mining districts.

“They have gotten their letters now, they are actually on interdiction. The committee just started investigation. Those who are on interdiction now will be facing the committee. Of course, 60 percent of their salaries will be paid until the investigation is completed” he noted.

It is likely the nine will be replaced by fresh officers by the commission, Amewu said.

Meanwhile, he said his outfit will continue the campaign to get all mining excavators out from the mining sites.

“The coming days is what we are expecting to see the continuous withdrawal of the equipment. I’ve already had very extensive elaborate meeting with all those who are engaged in the renting of excavators, I’ve had a discussions with them…and they’ve all agreed that is proper that we withdraw these excavators and the right be done. So what we are going to be doing this week is the continuous withdrawal of excavators from the various mining sites.”
