Government has revealed plans to bolster industrialization in the country through the establishment of 10 new industrial parks.
According to the Minister for Trade and Industries, Alan Kyeremanten, each of the ten regions will have one park with the requisite facilities and flexible land schemes to facilitate the setting up of industries.
The initiative which draws heavily on similar models from Asia is expected to boost jobs for Ghanaians.
This came to light at the ongoing National Policy Summit in the capital-Accra.
Mr. Kyeremanten said the government will also open up export development to be able to take advantage of the enhanced production coming up.
“If we are talking about the enhancement of industrial production, then obviously access to land, energy must be a critical factor. That is why this industrial parks are extremely important. The magic of Asia, China, Korea is all about the establishment of these industrial parks and special economic zones. We are also going to aggressively promote Export development, because if you produce, you have to be able to sell. And although we have what I believe is a quite a significant market,(domestic market), is still limited. So we want to be able to aggressively promote export to take advantage of the enhanced production that is coming up.”
