Security agencies have retrieved the gun seized by a mob from the late Capt. Maxwell Mahama after he was lynched and burnt on Monday at Denkyira Obuasi Upper Denkyira West in the Central Region on Monday.

Kasapafmonline.com is informed that the pistol was retrieved from a 35 year old farmer, Yaw Annor who’s the Unit Committee member in the Denkyira Boase community.

He fled the town on Tuesday and sought refuge at Asaman in the Ashanti Region. It is immediately unclear how he got access to the pistol.

The suspect and the assemblyman William Baah who’s a teacher both surrendered at the same time.

They reportedly called the District Police Commander and the Member of Parliament for the area informing them of their location and their intention to turn themselves in to the police.

The police then picked them up on Wednesday and are currently in the custody of the Central Regional Police Command.

In total seven suspects have been arrested and they are expected to be arraigned before court later today, where the police will be praying the court to remand them into police custody for investigations to continue.

The late Captain who served with the 5 Infantry Battalion (5BN) at Burma Camp in Accra but was on detachment duties at Denkyira Obuasi as Commander, was was lynched and his body burnt at Denkyira Obuasi on Monday May 29, 2017, after being mistaken for an armed robber.

He was seen jogging along the main road and as he stopped by to ask some women for directions, they saw a pistol on him.

The women who were terrified by the discovery of the gun mistook him for an armed robber and then alerted the assemblyman who allegedly organised some men to kill him.
