Confusion marred the NPP Subin Constituency delegates conference in the Ashanti Region as supporters exchanged blows following a misunderstanding of among some executives.
There has been internal wrangling between some of the constituency executives and the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Eugene Boakye Antwi, a development that has divided the party.
Whereas a faction is said to have aligned itself to the camp of incumbent Member of Parliament Eugene Boakye Antwi, the other is said to be aligned to the Constituency Chairman, Yaw Amankwah’s faction.
A third group according to reports, is on the side of former MP Isaac Osei and now CEO of TOR.
A conference held Thursday to elect new officers to lead the party for the next four years, saw some delegates casting insinuations and physically assaulting themselves.
The supporters of the party exchanged blows after some macho men refused to allow the Constituency Chairman, Yaw Amankwah from entering the building where the event was taking place.
The Subin Constituency Chairman of the NPP Chairman Yaw Amankwah has accused supporters aligned to the camp of current MP of organizing meetings in the constituency without his knowledge.
But Hon. Eugene Boakye Antwi urged the party supporters and executive to unite and desist from in-fighting which has the tendency of destroying the party.
He assured the delegates of his commitment to work effectively with the constituency exeecutives, adding that he’s a true democrat to the core.
Hon. Eugene Boakye Antwi called for unity among members, urging them to support the NPP government to succeed.
“Subin is one constituency; before me, it was one and after me, it will be one. We are in government now [and] we need all of you to find yourselves jobs, small loans for your businesses. That is why we are in government. We are not in government to trade insults, we are not in government to fight anybody [but] we are in government to make good money in your pockets [and] to find you jobs.”
