The Lebanese Manager of the Abelenkpe branch of Mawarko restaurant, Jihad Chaaban, who allegedly dipped the face of a Ghanaian worker, in hot blended pepper has been sentenced to nine months in jail for causing harm to a staff of the Restaurant.

Kasapa FM’s Court Correspondent, Daakyehene Ofosu Agyemang reported that the Abeka district court presided over by Justice Victoria Afia Quansah delivering judgment on Wednesday August 2, said the sentence is to serve as a deterrent to employers who don’t treat their workers well.

Evelyn Boakye, who was a kitchen staffer at the Abelenkpe branch was assaulted by the accused on Sunday, February 26, after Jihad accused her of fidgeting with a blender she was using to blend pepper.

The supervisor’s act was roundly condemned and sparked anger among the Ghanaian public. He was subsequently suspended by Management of Marwako.

The Abeka District Court on Wednesday July 26, deferred its judgment against Jihad Chaaban because both parties agreed on terms of settlement.

But the Judge fixed Wednesday August 2, for ruling on the criminal aspect of the case.
