Ghana international Abdul Majeed Waris has returned to top flight French football.

Warris, 23, today signed for Lorient, with the latter beating Rennes at the very last minute for his signature.

The Ghanaian forward who has some 19 caps for the Black Stars, is returning to a familiar league having played for Valenciennes in the 2013/14.

His 16 goals for Valenciennes ensured he became the favourite of some of Europe’s biggest teams two seasons ago.

Previously, he played in Russia for Spartak Moscow.

He becomes Lorient’s fourth major signing this season.
