The Hohoe branch of Barclays Bank has been gutted by fire.

The inferno which happened on Friday morning is said to have destroyed equipment in the banking hall worth hundreds of cedis.

The cause of the fire is however unknown but it is believed that the fire might have started from the banks generating plant that had worked over night.

It is also not clear as to whether monies were consumed by the fire.

Kasapa 102.3 FM’s Volta Regional correspondent Anthony Kyirah reported that the swift response by the Ghana National Fire Service to a distress call saved the situation from escalating.

The Fire service personnel are said to have battled the fire for nearly forty minutes before they were able to bring it under control.
