Over 10 shops have been totally burnt at Golden Gate junction, a suburb of Budumburam in the Gomoa East district of the central region.

The fire which started around midnight was cause by electrical fault, according to Fire Service.

Eyewitnesses who suddenly saw the shops in flames quickly informed the Fire Service who responded swifly to fight the fire and keep it from spreading.

Though the fire fighter tried to douse the inferno, officials of the Electricity Company of Ghana failed to pick up their calls to off the main power since the incident happened under the main GRIDCo line.

Properties worth thousands of cedis were destroyed by the fire.

D03 Sarah Obimpeh, Commander of the Budumburam Fire Service station explained that gotten the failure of the ECG to put off the main Electricity line delayed their operation as it was dangerous for them to operate will power was still on.

She disclosed that initial investigations indicated that the cause of the fire outbreak was electrical fault from one of the shops.

D03 Sarah Obimpeh charged those who have shops under the main GRIDCo line to vacate the area, adding that their continues stay there is a threat to their lives.
