General Secretary of the United Front Party (UFP), Listowell Nana Kusi-Poku has accused striking public sector doctors of being inhumane positing that the doctors are using human lives as a bargaining chip.

He said the doctors by the industrial action have been grossly cruel to Ghanaians especially the less privileged who have attended various hospitals across the country seeking healthcare.

“If you are going in for negotiation and you want to use human life as a bargaining chip just for government to see that people are dying so that they can heed to your request and do what you want, then is a very wicked act to do. Now doctors have betrayed Ghanaians” he averred.

In an interview on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM with Fiifi Banson Friday, Listowell Nana Kusi-Poku stated that in as much as the doctors had the right to demand what is due them, they should be considerate in taking that decision especially as human lives are involved.

Describing the proposals of the doctors on their condition as outrageous, the UFP Scribe added that General Secretary described the reasons for the strike as unreasonable, adding that the doctors should resume work as they continue with negotiations with government.

The GMA declared a partial strike action on July 30, 2015 after their negotiations with government over their conditions of service hit a deadlock. They have threatened to resign en masse of their demands are not met.

Mr Listowell Nana Kusi-Poku on Thursday sued the Ghana Medical Association for embarking on the strike action asking the court to declare the action as illegal.
