The Black Stars have been held to a 1-1 draw by their Congolese counterparts in their FIFA World Cup qualifying match played in Kumasi on Saturday.

The Red Devils took the lead in the 18th minute after Thievy Bifouma placed the ball behind Richard Ofori in post for Ghana.

Ghana failed to find the equalizer in the first half despite the chances that came their way.

The Congolese held their own in the second half until Thomas Partey slotted home late into the second half to give the Black Stars an equalizer.

Ghana failed in its relentless efforts to find the wining goal despite chances that came the way of its forward liners.

The draw puts Ghana in a difficult position to make to the 2018 FIFA World Cup with the Black Stars still third on the standings with two points.

Uganda leads the group with 7 points with Egypt closely behind with 6points whiles Congo lies bottom with one point.

Ghana will travel to Congo for a return leg tie on September 5 in Brazzaville.
