A joint operation of the Police Homicide Unit of the Ghana Police Service and the National Disaster Management Organisation(NADMO) has retrieved a decomposed body at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle believed to have been part of the June 3 disaster.
Scrap dealers around Odawna spotted the new body in one of the buildings affected by the June 3 fire and flood disaster.
Eye witnesses told Kasapa FM’s Kwaku Opare they suspect there may be some more bodies hidden in the buildings at the spot.
Meanwhile, Security agencies have started interrogating one Seth Kwesi Ofosu, whose cigarette stub is said to have caused the fire at the GOIL filling station near the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra that led to the death of over 150 people.
The move comes after the committee set up by government to investigate the national disaster presented its findings to government.
Hundreds of souls were perished in the disaster; the worst in Ghana’s history.
The committee at a news conference to present its findings stated that the “flooding of Kwame Nkrumah was the remote cause of the fire.”
“The displacement of fuel from the Goil Filling station at Kwame Nkrumah Circle was the intermediate cause.
“The dropping of the lit cigarette stub by Seth Kwesi Ofosu onto the floating fuel was the ultimate or immediate cause of the fire.”
