Any member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) party who wants to contest President John Dramani Mahama as the NDC Presidential candidate for the 2016 election, will have to cough up a whopping GHC 50,000 cedis as filing fee.
Prior to the 2012 elections, the filing fee was pegged at GHC 20,000.
The decision was reached at a crucial meeting of National Executive Council (NEC) of the party on Thursday afternoon.
The General Secretary of the Party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia who made the announcement said, the NDC being a disability and gender bias party, has resolved to slash the filing fee by fifty(50%) for prospective candidates who are women and physically challenged.
The Ghanaian political scene will be a beehive of activities and very interesting, as the ruling NDC warms itself up to the internal elections.
