The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has scrapped its Electoral College system ahead of the party’s upcoming primary polls.

General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia has indicated that the party as part of major reforms in its electoral process has adopted the universal adult suffrage which he says allows for a more expanded form of franchise for members of the party.

The party’s giant step has created the opportunity for all biometric card bearing members to vote irrespective of their status in the party.

The NDC’s scribe highlighted this  at a meeting of the leadership of the party in Accra Thursday to decide on a number of key issues ahead of the primaries.

Filing of nomination forms for the upcoming primaries will open on August 27 through to September 10, the Party said Thursday.

Meanwhile party members who wish to contest in the NDC’s primaries will pick forms for an amount of 1000 cedis each, the party revealed.
