The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has slammed the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for its hypocritical position on recent lawless activities by some pro ruling party Vigilante groups, urging the party to rather contribute to solving menace.

Some vigilante groups affiliated to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been on rampage since the change of government with the recent being an attack on the District Chief Executive of Karaga and the Youth Employment Agency director Alhassan Yabdoo and Mohammed Osman respectively.

About 18 attacks under the aegis of vigilante groups linked to the NPP have taken place in Ghana after the December 2016.

Members of the NDC have vehemently condemned the riotous behaviour of the NDC youth urging the law enforcement agency to deal ruthlessly with the perpetrators.

But the Acting National General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu, in an interview on Asempa FM said it’s irritating for the NDC to only sit on the fence and just talk as though they’re saints and not proffer any solution to the worrying development.

“The NDC must support us to ensure that such lawlessness is stopped because if this sort of misbehavior is not stopped one day these youth will storm an NDC party rally and beat up people out of frustration. We need to take drastic measures to nib some of these unlawful act in the bud. But it’s disgusting that those who introduced the culture of violence in this country’s political history are at their hypocritical best and are rather the ones who are loud in the condemnation of what’s going on now.

“The NDC are now in opposition they must help to end this lawlessness, but if speak publicly  pretending nothing of this sort happened under your regime then it’s bad. If you sit on the fence and remain unconcerned, next time these lawlessness may be at your end. We can’t run a country like that.”
