Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress(NDC), Koku Anyidoho says ‘common sense should stop anyone from contesting President Mahama’ in the party’s Presidential slot.
Nonetheless, he’s noted for the party not to leave gaps for anyone to question the democracy within the party, it has opened nomination for all interested party members to contest the sitting President in the NDC’s Presidential race.
“Common sense should appeal to the minds of those who want to contest President Mahama for the Flagbearership slot – I doubt if anybody will do that; but we don’t want anyone to also take us on so we will follow due process,” he told Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM.
Ghana’s political space promises to be very exciting as the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) party kick starts its internal elections ahead of the 2016 general elections.
The party has set November 7 for its Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
The decision was reached at a crucial meeting of its National Executive Council (NEC) on Thursday afternoon.
Even ahead of the formal announcement, some aspirants including media practitioners have already declared their intention to contest in the parliamentary election.
