The Sunon Asogli Power Plant is expected to resume power production, the state-owned Daily Graphic is reporting.

The 180 megawatts (MW) plant, which runs solely on gas supply from Nigeria, and which was shut down Saturday following worker agitations by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), is to resume production soon.

Corporate Affairs Manager of WAPCo, Ms Harriet Wereko-Brobbey, told the Daily Graphic’s Della Russel Ocloo “As of now, the valves are yet to be opened. When they are eventually opened, there will be the need to build pressure in the lines before pumping and transmission could be done.”

“Everything depends on Engas, the company responsible for the transportation of gas to the Volta River Authority (VRA). WAPCo is equally awaiting information from Engas to chart a way forward.”

The striking workers have since resumed work.
