Organizers of the Winneba Fancy Dress Festival, Nyce Media have called on the President of the Republic Nana Akuffo Addo and his tourism minister to help promote the fancy dress festival as it projects the culture of the people of Winneba.

According to them, it is about time government sees the need to support this cause which aims to project the colorful culture of the people of Winneba which can also create an avenue for tourism in the country.

This was made known during the launch of the 2018 Fancy Dress Festival at Winneba in the Central Region over the weekend.

Every 1st January of the New Year, the good people of Effutu land (Winneba) celebrate Masquerade festival popularly known as “Fancy Dress Dance.”

The festival which marks the 60years of the existence of Fancy Dress is scheduled to begin on December 26, 2017 with a public lecture on what the fancy dress is all about, followed by an exhibition show and street carnival on the 27th and 28th of December 2017 and will climax it with the main events January 1, 2018.

Addressing participant at the launch, the General Manager of Nyce Media, Bismark Odum Sackey, called on the stakeholders in the creative arts industry to come on board and support this year’s festival.

He said as this year’s marks the 60years of existence of the festival, peace is what is needed during the festival and has called on all and sundry especially the various groups to promote peace before during and after the festival to ensure a successful program.

On his part the Assistant Divisional Officer D02 in the Effutu municipality, of the Ghana National Fire Service, Justin Gokar also called on organizers to ensure that proper safety measures are put in place to ensure that no casualties are recorded during the festival.

He said the GNFS will also provide ambulance services and others services to ensure safety. He also called on sponsors to come on board and support this festival which seems to unite the people of Effutuland.
