Founder of the Street Children Empowerment Foundation (SCEF), Mr. Paul Semeh, is appealing to the general public not to ignore the rights of children since they are a blessing to society.

He said it is important that the rights of children are fought for since most of them are being denied the right to education, health and other basic amenities.

Speaking to Kasapa News after a walk through some principal streets of Accra to mark this year’s World Humanitarian Day, Mr. Semeh said the activity was to create awareness on the importance of Child Rights which is being disregarded by some Ghanaians.

The theme for the walk was dubbed, “Educating the grassroots on Human Rights is fundamental to empowerment and prosperity”.

Mr. Semeh said children as well as adults have human rights adding that children also have the right to special protection because of their vulnerability to exploitation and abuse.

He was full of praise for AVNASH Industries Ghana Ltd an agro-industrial processing company for fully supporting the activity and bearing most of its costs.

He said the support given them by the company is overwhelming describing it as a blessing from above.

Also expressing excitement for supporting the event, Mr.David Adikah, Head of Marketing for AVNASH Industries Ghana Ltd said human rights includes the welfare of children and as such events that fight for the rights of children must be supported.

He said it is sad that the voices of children are rarely heard when decisions are made about issues that affect their lives and therefore entreated the general public to support events concerning children.
