Youth and Sports Minister Isaac Kwame Asiamah has exclusively revealed to Kasapa Sports that he has tasked Ghana Ambassador to Australia His Excellency Edwin Nii Adjei to conduct investigation into why some Ghanaians who claimed to be journalists were detained and deported.
According to him, the Ambassador will as soon as possible to set up an investigation team to go into the matter because he represents the Ghana government in that country.
“I have charged His Excellency Edwin Nii Adjei to investigate the matter and I believe that very soon we will get to the button of this said subject,
but Alexander, let me emphasize on this the Ministry of Youth and Sports never engaged themselves in any visa racketeering or visa fraud as people claim, I Isaac Asiamah has great track record as a Minister and will not do such a criminal act to dent my image, we all know that in one way or the other it is the responsibility for government to make sure any citizen who goes into an immigration distress by his own negligence must be given the necessary support and that is why I have instructed the Ambassador to investigate in this matter to avoid any future happenings,” Isaac Asiamah added.
Meanwhile, according to the Deputy Sports Minister Pius Enam Hadzide about 50 Ghanaians were deported from Australia with claims from Australian immigration that they might not come back when given an entry because nothing shows on them that they are journalists.
