The Ghana Physician Assistants Association has asked its members across the country to return to their posts by tomorrow following the release of their colleague, Simon Takramah from police custody.

This comes shortly after the court granted bail to Simon Takramah.

Addressing a Press conference, the Acting General Secretary of the Association,Peter Eyram Kwenyefu said:” The leadership of the association wishes to tell all our colleagues and the general public that Mr. Simon Takramah has to date Tuesday, 17th April, 2018 been granted bail at an amount of GHS20,000 with two sureties at the Koforidua High court after the bail application was put before the court.

“On this note, we are directing all physician Assistants nationwide, to resume work tomorrow 18th April, 2018, while the leadership of the association engages the Ministry of Health, Ghana Health Service and other agencies o the way forward.

The Association declared a nationwide strike yesterday April, 16, 2018, protesting against the incarceration of their colleague who had been languishing in prison cells for two weeks following the death of four persons at the New Senchi Health Centre. Takramah was among two officers stationed at the health centre where an  injection of contaminated penicillin powder caused the death of the four persons.

His colleagues from the Eastern Regional branch of the Association had early on Friday embarked on a sit-down strike to solidarize with him[Simon Takramah].

They’d maintained that Mr. Takramah was innocent of all allegations leveled against him.
