The New Patriotic Party’s 2016 parliamentary candidate for the Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency of the Eastern Region Vincent Kojo Oppong Nkrumah says he once worked with a security and construction firm in the United Kingdom.

The two jobs he said came in handy to cater for his tertiary school vacation needs while still a student at the University of Cape Coast.

“People don’t know; i once worked with a security and construction firm in the United Kingdom; we’ve been around working our way up,” he told Jeremie and Jay Foley on LIVE 91.9 FM’s breakfast show, Live Breakfast Club Monday.

Oppong-Nkrumah won the Ofoase-Ayierbi primaries in June with some 219 votes as against his contender John Obiri Yeboah’s 145. The other contestant Bright Asamoah Acquah had 45 votes.

The former radio host has indicated is preparedness to work for an NPP victory in 2016.

“Our common objective as true patriots should be to improve our party’s fortunes in December 2016 and thereby take Nana Akuffo Addo to the Flagstaff house.

This is the task to which I commit myself and the task I believe we can fulfill working together,” he said in a statement after the elections.

Born on April 5, 1982, to Mr Kwame Oppong Nkrumah, Head of Treasury of the National Investment Bank, and Mrs Felicia Oppong Nkrumah, a Teacher, he hails from Abora Aboase near Saltpond in the Central Region.

He had his secondary education at the Pope John Secondary in Koforidua and studied for his first degree at the University of Cape Coast.

He subsequently enrolled for a Master’s programme in Marketing at the University of Ghana.

He joined JOY FM in 2007 as an intern after being spotted by Multimedia Broadcasting CEO, Mr Kwesi Twum, while making a presentation at the University of Cape Coast.

From very humble beginnings, he’s grown to become a highly respected young achiever.
