A member of the Communications Team of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kofi Ameyaw is vouching for the incorruptibility of the deputy Chief of Staff, Asenso Boakye.
Mr Asenso Boakye’s name of the high ranking government official has reportedly popped up in the latest exposé by ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas which captures President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kwesi Nyantakyi using the name of President Akufo Addo to extort monies from potential investors.
Kwesi Nyantakyi is alleged to have asked the businessmen to pay some bribes which in his wisdom will give them unimpeded access to the President and his vice Mahamudu Bawumia.
“Ghana is the easiest place to do business, all you’ve to do is to give the President $5m and Vice President Bawumia $3m. I’ve the Prez in my pocket, l see him every day. As for refs, all you need is, give them GHS 20 and girls. And they are sorted”, Nyantakyi supposedly said.
The President and his Vice were not the only names Kwesi Nyantakyi allegedly mentioned in the video. Suspended Deputy Minister of Sports, Pius Enam Hadzide and Deputy Chief of Staff, Asenso Boakye were also mentioned as people who could facilitate a meeting between the businessmen and the President.
But Speaking on Simiso on Kasapa FM, Kofi Ameyaw described Mr Asenso Boakye as a ‘clean and fine man’ whose incorruptibility is not in doubt.
“The President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo abhors greedy corrupt and selfish people. For him to appoint Francis Asenso-Boakye as his Deputy Chief of Staff and Political Assistant and arguably the closest appointee to the President tells a unique story. A story that suggest positively that Asenso Boakye is a clean and a fine man. The President has never been a friend to someone who’s corrupt. The NDC can go on maligning Asenso Boakye but the mud they’re throwing at him will not stick.”
