The Mpraeso Police Command in the Kwahu South District of Eastern Region has arrested a 25yr old mechanic in connection with the kidnapping of a 21yr old lady in the area last week.

According to the District Commander ASP Francis Oppong, who corroborated the incident disclosed that police has finished with all the necessary investigation and will soon put the suspect before court.

He said police would have preferred to put the suspect before a circuit court (i.e. Mpraeso Circuit Court) but currently the circuit court judge is on two weeks course, adding that the police intends to put the suspect before a magistrate court Monday 28th May at Nkawkaw, for him to be remanded into police custody awaiting the return of the circuit court judge.

The victim, an apprentice whose identity was kidnapped by unknown assailants on Friday 18th May 2018, when she had gone out to buy food from a nearby lorry station.

The junior seamstress according to her boss Mr. Kwame Preprah met two young guys who decided to chat her, although she was not interested in the conversation they succeeded in winning her attention.

As they begun to exchange words, the young girl reportedly couldn’t control herself any longer and later found herself in the car while the suspects drove at top speed on ‘Odweanoma’ road heading towards the paragliding site in Atibie.

Without fear, she opened the door and jumped out from the car sustaining several/severe injuries all over her body. She was lucky to have met a Good Samaritan who was able to carry her to the hospital.

The suspect who is also an apprentice mechanic is said to have gone on that operation with one of the vehicle which was under servicing by his boss.

ASP Francis Oppong told Agoo/Kasapa news Ebenezer Kojo Nyavor (K-Lover) the arrest was made in-collaboration with the owner of the shop at Bepong where the accused person works.

The chief of Atibie, Nana Barimah Kwame Asante Betiani II who tasked the police to ensure that justice prevails when the incident occurred is footing the bill of the victim, sources close to the family have disclosed.

ASP Francis Oppong asked the family to have faith in the police as they’ll ensure that justice prevails.
