When the Minister for Communications, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Thursday, May 31, 2018, stormed Parliament to brief Members over the controversial Kelni-GVG contract, little did they know that she had some other thing under her sleeves as a surprise package for them.
For almost forty-five (45) minutes, the Communications Minister who is also the lawmaker stood on her feet justifying why a contract which was entered into between the Government of Ghana and Subah Infosolutions and Afriwave Ghana Limited was abrogated and awarded to Kelni-GVG Limited.
But having delivered the main substance of her message which occasionally attracted some jeers from the Minority side of the House, Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful rounded her activity with a hymn by Frances R. Havergall, 1877 which was derived from Exodus 32:26.
“Mr. Speaker, before I conclude, permit to sing this song “…Who is on the Lords’ side, who for Him will go? By thy call of mercy, by thy grace divine, We are on the Lords’ side, Saviour we are thine! We are on Ghanas’ side, Ghana we are thine!”.
Her sweet voice attracted her other colleague MPs, mostly from the Majority side, to join her sing the song as the Minority Members watch in awe.
