General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyepong, has been invited for questioning by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service over an alleged diversion of party funds into an Ecobank ‘secret’ account, Kasapafmonline.com can say.

The date for his invitation is immediately not known.

This website is reliably informed that the general scribe who is currently outside the country is yet to respond to the invitation.

“He was not in the country when the CID brought the invitation letter. When he returns, he will surely honour it,” an insider familiar with the situation told this website.

The invite follows a complaint lodged at the national headquarters of the Ghana Police Service by an unknown card bearing member of the elephant family.

Three weeks ago, a member of the party, Baah Akyemfour, promised to get to the bottom of the matter by lodging a complaint to the police to investigate it.

It is however not clear whether he initiated the move.

Agyepong’s colleague, Mr. Paul Afoko, who was also invited in connection to the said case, this website understands, has honoured the invitation and written his statement.

The First National Vice-Chairman of the NPP, Freddie Blay and Treasurer, Kwabena Abankwa Yeboah, are accused of operating a ‘secret’ bank account with Ecobank, Trust Towers Branch, at the blind side of the Chairman Paul Awentime Afoko, and Kwabena Agyepong as well as other executive members.

The duo has since denied any wrong doing.

Mr. Blay, who was also invited by the Police but declined the invitation insist the issue is a party matter which must be dealt with internally.
