The Presidential Candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo Addo deliberately abstained from voting in yesterday’s district assembly elections, his Press Secretary has revealed.

According to Eugene Arhin, the NPP Flag bearer would have shot himself in the foot if he had voted in the elections, which was characterized by apathy across the country.

Political opponents of the Nana Akufo Addo are making a meal of his inability to cast his vote in the national exercise which is required of every Ghanaian upon attaining eighteen (18) years of age and beyond.

The veteran politician has been lambasted for not showing a good example by discharging his civic responsibility.

However speaking to Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Si Mi So on Kasapa 102.3 Mr Eugene Arhin defended his boss and maintained that Nana Addo’s decision was on purpose.

“Nana Akufo Addo has made it categorically clear that the current voters register is terribly flawed and that it is not fit for any purpose, which includes voting to elect a President, Members of Parliament and Assembly members. If he did cast his vote yesterday, it would have amounted to double standards and Nana Addo is not known for that”.

Meanwhile, Nana Akufo Addo is embarking on a month long nationwide tour Thursday, September 3 to touch base with the party, ahead of the commencement of the campaign for the 2016 general elections.
