The National Treasurer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Abankwa Yeboah says the NPP Members of Parliament are doing their best to support the activities of the party.

Mr. Yeboah’s position on such support given by its Members of Parliament negates the earlier pronouncement by the party’s Chairman which suggests that the MPs have ceased financial support to the party since February.

According to him, such communication from the corridors of the party’s chair is a calculated attempt to spoil the good relationship existing between the party and the MPs.

He said if there is no such intention by Mr. Afoko, then he must come out and clarify the communication issued on his behalf by his spokesperson, Nana Yaw Osei, adding that this can be a threat to the party’s progress.

“I want the national chairman to come out clear on the matter, if he doesn’t then the national chair is hiding behind some people to destroy the party,” he told Kwaku Owusu Agyei on Si Me So on Kasapa 102.3 FM Wednesday.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the party’s chairman said the monthly financial support from its Members of Parliament has ceased since February 2015.

The statement signed by his spokesperson, Nana Yaw Osei undoubtedly points to the NPP’s distress in its financial matters compelling the party’s chairman to express his frustration in the media.

Meanwhile, Minority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has expressed disappointment over his national chairman, Paul Afoko’s decision to discuss the cessation of financial support from its Members of Parliament to the party in the media.

He said such moves leaves cracks in the growth of the party, especially as it strives to obtain power in the near future.
