The Inspector General of Police(IGP) David Asante-Appeatu has dispatched a delegation from the National Police Headquarters to Koforidua in the Eastern region to investigate the recent spate of robbery and allegations of extortion against Policemen.

Reports say, the high powered delegation yesterday held a closed door meeting with various District Commanders regarding the emerging issues.

Sources say, the delegation are currently locked up again in a meeting at the Regional Police Command with another set of selected detectives and investigators from various areas within the region.

The meeting is to reinforce on operation target that will help crack down on robbers and burglars taking over the region.

This comes after four member robbery gang terrorizing residents of New Juaben in the Eastern Region, Sunday dawn, stormed Bornya, a suburb in the municipality to rob three houses of their valuables.

The robbers wearing masks and wielding guns and other burglary implements invaded the community to rob their victims amidst sporadic gunshots.

The armed robbers succeeded in robbing Mr. Kofi Aning, a staff of Ghana Education Service and his pregnant wife in a traumatic style.

At gun and knife point, the robbers took away a laptop, mobile phones, tablets, a flat screen television set and a $100 bill.

In addition to that, they took away GH₵1,500.00 having chiseled and broke the security doors.

A close circuit television (CCTV) camera, mounted in the house to assist with security was also shot at by the armed robbers.

The armed robbers after the act also attacked two neighbouring houses but absconded into the bush upon the arrival of the Police.
