Card bearing member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Baah Akyemfour, is the brain behind Police investigations into the party’s alleged diverted funds, Kasapafmonline.com can say.

The party’s anti-corruption activist three weeks ago revealed to the public that some national executives of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo Tradition are operating a secret bank account with Ecobank, Ridge Towers Branch, Accra.

Signatories to the said account, he noted, were the First National Vice-Chairman of the NPP, Freddie Blay and Treasurer, Kwabena Abankwa Yeboah.

The account bearing the name “NPP Election 2010” was first operated by some members of the previous national executives, including Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, aka, Sir  John, who was then General Secretary of the party.

The account, he argued, has been reactivated (June 1, 2015) with Mr. Blay and Abankwa Yeboah being signatories without a resolution from the party.

He told Fiifi Banson in an interview on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM Thursday that the said account was reactivated at the blind side of the other national executives of the party, especially, the National Chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong.

Some revenue generated from the party’s recently held parliamentary primaries were diverted into it with Mr. Blay said to be the authority for the disbursement of the funds.

To Baah Akyemfour, such an act is an affront to the party’s constitution and that of the laws of the land, hence, his decision to fall on the Police to probe the said Ecobank ‘secret’ account.

So far, Mr. Blay, Afoko, and Kwabena Agyepong have been invited to assist the Police with investigations into the said matter.

Mr. Blay, this website understands has declined the invitation.

The party’s National Chairman, Paul Afoko, on the contrary, has honoured the invitation and written his statement to that effect.

The General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong who is outside the country is yet to respond to the invite.

The Treasurer, Abankwa Yeboah, this website is told is yet to be invited by the Police.
