The Presidential Candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo Addo is deeply worried over the party’s internal wrangling that has once again reared its ugly head, his aide Mustapha Hamid has confirmed.

According to him, Nana Addo like any other good leader is not enthused about the disunity in the party which appears to deepen by the day, a development he contended if not resolved could spell doom for the party in the upcoming 2016 general elections.

In almost one year, hardly has a week passed without negative stories about the NPP not spreading like wildfire.

Ghanaians woke up on Wednesday to the news that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Police Service had invited certain party bigwigs for allegedly running a “secret account”.

The First National Vice-Chairman of the NPP, Freddie Blay and Treasurer, Kwabena Abankwa Yeboah, have been accused of operating a ‘secret’ bank account with Ecobank, Trust Towers Branch, at the blind side of the Chairman Paul Awentime Afoko, and Kwabena Agyepong as well as other executive members. But the accused persons have denied the claim against them.

Speaking to Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM, Mustapha Hamid who expressed disgust about how NPP internal matter continue to find space in the media, stated that such issues undermines Nana Akufo Addo’s efforts to build a united party to win the next years elections.

“Every leader be it in a family or a group, will never be happy when there is chaos in the establishment he/she heads, and same can be said about Nana Akufo Addo. Nana is worried over how NPP internal documents have suddenly become public. People now are always in the rush to put our internal issues. We now do our politics in the open. This is a creeping culture in the party which is very bad; this behaviour must cease now”.

He strongly vouched for the integrity of Mr Freddy Blay, insisting that the astute lawyer will not misappropriate party funds as has been leveled against him.
