True Drivers Union, a joint commercial drivers’ association has threatened the government to desist from increasing tax which is set to be announced tomorrow, 19th July, 2018.

According to the Vice Chairman of the association Yaw Barima, members of the association has sent a letter to the President of the nation to withdraw from increasing taxes that will affect fuel, Road Worthy Certificates and Income Tax.

“We have sent a letter to the President to withdraw from increasing the taxes. Look at how things have become in the country at the moment, look at how pathetic drivers have become in this country. The 17.5% taxes we can’t afford; the government wants to increase it to 21%, such impudence! If a driver is on the road without settling his income tax debt, he can’t tell the police it’s because the government has increased taxes. Therefore, we the drivers have served noticed that if taxes are increased it will affect us greatly.” He said to Okay FM.
