The ongoing controversy on who founded the hiplife music genre took a different twist Saturday when one of the characters Reggie Rockstone claimed he taught celebrated producer Zapp Mallet how to play hiphop beats.
In a new angle to what is an already convoluted drama, Rockstone, for years sold as Founder of the highly successful music genre, made the wild claim, insisting Mallet, who has since questioned his Founder status, was a novice in rap music, and that it took his effort to get him to understand the basics.
He told Kojo Preko Dankwa on E-Voice on Kasapa 102.3 FM Saturday, Mallet knew very little about a genre he claims he was part of its formation.
An ongoing debate, the two personalities have had several mainstream media arguments over the mater. While Rockstone claims he solely led the revolution, Mallet has insisted it took more than just one person to give hiplife the kind of popularity it has enjoyed in the last two decades.
