
The embattled CEO of the Tamale Teaching Hospital, David Zaawumya Kolbila has been installed back to office by the Regional Security led by Regional Minister and Council chairman Salifu Saeed, after he was ordered out of his office allegedly by members of a vigilante group, Kandahar Boys, affiliated to the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to Mr Salifu Saeed, his outfit will pursue the matter to ensure the attackers are arrested.
A viral video captured Mr Kolbila and his officers who had been given the marching off orders by the attackers exiting their offices helplessly on Monday.
The group accused Mr Kolbila of mismanagement, corruption and nepotism. The group further alleged that Dr Kolbila has established a number of companies which he is using to lobby for supplies for the hospital.
Initial reports suggested the invasion was carried out by the Kandahar Boys, a vigilante group affiliated to the NPP, but the group has since vehemently denied any involvement via a press statement.
Mr Salifu Saeed who was at the premises of the Tamale Teaching Hospital on Tuesday morning with a team of security officers assured management of the facility of a security beef up. In that regard, he said among things that a permanent police officers would be stationed at the facility.
Public Relations Officer of the Tamale Regional Police Command, DSP Mohammed Tanko in an interview on Kasapa FM earlier on Monday evening said they will take steps to open the administrative offices of the Tamale Teaching Hospital with or without the keys which were said to be in the custody of a vigilante group.
